Against the Darkmaster

Well, this has surely been an exciting week! Over four hundred heroes joined our side to defeat the Darkmaster, we’ve blown through our first two Stretch Goals, and we’re heading straight to the next one!

And with the spooky season approaching, what better way to celebrate than showcasing some of the scariest minions of the Darkmaster?

In this Update, we’ll be featuring the Ghoul and its rarer variant, the grotesque Draugr!

What other monstrous creature would you like to see in the next Update? The Wight, the Ghost or the Werewolf?

Greetings, Heroes!

We’re proud to announce that Open Ended Games will part of Aethercon this year!

Aethercon is an online convention, bringing together Tabletop RPGs fans from all over the world, and allowing them to meet each other and play their favorite games without even having to leave their homes!

This is Aethercon Eighth edition, and you’ll find us in two different events:

• A Live Q&A on Sunday 17th between 11:00 AM and 12:00 (EST), where Nik and Max will talk about Against the Darkmaster, and you’ll be able to ask your questions about the game or the Kickstarter campaign directly to us.
  
• The Beast of Willow Lake always on Sunday 17th at 2:00 PM (EST), a game for up to 6 people, where Nik will run our introductory scenario for you

Another day, another Stretch Goal!

A bellowing horn resounds through the battlefield. You’ve made it! Your mighty deeds have rallied the legendary Firbolgs and persuaded them to join the Free Kins in their fight Against the Darkmaster!

 Forsaken by their forefathers and cursed by the Darkmaster, the Firbolgs retreated from the world centuries ago, stoically enduring their fate in silence and isolation.

Now the time has come for them to face their destiny, take their revenge on their hated enemy, and free themselves of their curse once and for all.

 The Firbolg will be added to the playable Kins in the Core Book, meaning the manual will be enhanced with an additional player option, and bringing the total Kins count to 13!

We’re 150% funded and counting! Up to now, more than three hundred heroes have joined the fight Against the Darkmaster.

This is just amazing, and we wanted to say THANK YOU, everyone! We still can’t believe this is happening.

We also wanted to answer a few questions that we see coming up quite frequently in the comments, to make things as clear as possible for everyone.

About shipping and customs

We will ship from two different fulfillment centers, one in the USA, the other in Europe. So, backers resident in these countries won’t have to pay any customs for their rewards.

If we’ll get enough backers from other countries, we’ll probably end up adding another fulfillment center, but for now, the costs for doing that are simply too high to be convenient.

About the Shadows of the Northern Woods campaign

The Shadows of the Northern Woods campaign will be included in every Core Book, so all backers from the Adventurer level up are going to receive it as part of their pledge.

Let us know in the comments if you’d like to receive the digital version of the adventure also as a separate PDF file, in addition to your Core Book.

Digital GM Screen

Many of you asked us if you could get this as part of the Add-Ons: yes, you’ll be able to add the PDF of the Digital GM Screen (plus the rules booklet) to your rewards on Backerkit, after the campaign ends.

We’ll have another surprise about the GM Screen soon, so stay tuned and keep an eye on the Kickstarter page for more updates!
